Audio Experts from all over the world at Lawo in Rastatt.
During the second week of July, mc² users and Lawo sales partners from all over the world met at the convention center Badner Halle in Rastatt, where the “4th International mc² User Meeting” and the Lawo partner training 2009 were taking place at the same time. The participants, who arrived from close to 20 countries, had the chance to experience a number of presentations on a variety of topics including the newest software releases, information on several projects, as well as some hands-on-experience.
The opener for this year’s User Meeting was a presentation by the Lawo Product Management of the mc² series, in which the new releases 4.4 and 4.6 were introduced. After the theoretical part, participants were encouraged to try out the mixing consoles prepared in the hall. In order to provide optimal hands-on-experience the entire mc² family as well as routing systems were set up prior to the event by Audio Broadcast Services (ABS), Lawo’s partner for the rental business.
Other highlights were: The presentation of the new studios and control rooms of the Fraunhofer IIS Audio Laboratory which showed the conception, realization and engineering of the institution’s facilities. There, music is recorded and reproduced under lab conditions after data reduction, using algorithms developed by Fraunhofer IIS. The results were then illustrated during a 5.1 surround demo by means of several different tools. Another very well-attended presentation expanded on the methods and techniques used in 5.1 surround productions and was nicely supported by a demonstration of a passage of the SWR production of the opera “Der Freischütz” by Carl Maria von Weber. Last but not least, presentations about the unlimited possibilities of user configuration, a roadmap for upcoming features and the Lawo Plug-in Collection topped off the successful meeting.
The participants had the chance to chat with each other at the by now traditional evening event at the Lawo premises in Rastatt-Ottersdorf in a relaxed atmosphere with live music. As a "special guest", a large HD OB-Van - with an mc²66 console in the audio control room - was on site and guests could see the high tech vehicle in action.
The “4th International Lawo mc² User Meeting” was the biggest in the company’s history and received much positive feedback from the participants. Especially its organisation, highly interesting content and the competence of the speakers received much praise. Summing up the event, Felix Krückels, Senior Product Manager for the mc² series at Lawo, said: “This year’s user meeting was very successful and the participants were provided with interesting presentations and inspiring discussions. Even so, the feedback of our customers is very valuable and important for us. That’s why we are very happy about all the positive feedback ─ and of course we are looking forward to seeing everybody again in 2010!”
